David Brent Welch, M.D. is a native of Union City, Tennessee, graduated from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. Both his internship and residency were completed at the University of Tennessee, Affiliated Hospitals in Memphis, Tennessee. For his Fellowship, Dr. Welch studied in Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Welch, Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, is Clinical Professor of Medicine at Quillen College of Medicine.
Dr. Welch has been a member of Gastrointestinal Associates of Northeast Tennessee, P.C.
since 1992. His community activities include being former Chairman of the elders at First Christian Church, a member of the Johnson City Rotary Club, and leadership in UT National Alumni Association and Boy Scouting. He has also served as President of the Tennessee Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He and his wife, Catherine, have two sons, Tyler and Travis. Golfing, boating and traveling are hobbies he enjoys.
